Library Services for Extension and REC personnel

Important phone numbers and e-mail addresses:

Obtaining library materials

  • Check-out: Extension and Experiment Station personnel have the same circulation privileges as all other NDSU faculty and staff.  Books may be checked out for 180 days and may be renewed once; periodicals may be checked out for 5 days.
    • On-campus staff–use your NDSU ID card for checking out materials.
    • Off-campus staff –  request library materials by using our Interlibrary Loan service.
  • Online journals: Many of our online electronic journals are available to off-campus Extension and Experiment station staff;  however, some titles are restricted to on-campus access due to license limitations. A listing of our electronic journals is available from our e-journal directory (click on “journals” located in the header of the library pages).  Off campus staff must log in to access electronic journals and electronic databases.
  • Materials not available at NDSU:  request items by using our Interlibrary Loan service.  We will obtain electronic copies, photocopies, or borrow materials from another library for you. Please return books to the NDSU Interlibrary Loan office–a shipping label will be provided.
  • Fees:  There is a  photocopying fee for materials copied and sent to you from our collection.  The charge is  $1.00 plus 10 cents per page.

Logging on

  • Off-campus researchers and staff should log-in to the library pages in order to access our services and electronic resources.  Find the log-in button on the upper right of the library web pages.
  • Use your ndsu.edu e-mail account and password as your library log-in and password.
  • If you have problems with your log-in, or if you cannot access any of the resources, contact Kathie Richardson (email: kathie.richardson@ndsu.edu; phone: 701-231-8879), or Jeremy Brown (email: jeremy.brown@ndsu.edu; phone: 701-231-1050).
  • On-campus researchers, staff and students should have access to most of the library  services and electronic resources without logging in.
