Once you have an article citation, a few steps can be necessary to get the article.
Check if NDSU has an electronic subscription that includes the article:
- Access the NDSU Library Ejournal List by clicking the Journals tab in the upper-left corner of the Library website.
- Enter the title of the magazine or journal in the search box and click Search.
- If NDSU does not have an electronic subscription, the screen will display Titles where title name contains [the text you entered]: 0. This means the magazine or journal is not available electronically at the NDSU Library.
- If NDSU has an electronic subscription, a link or a number of links will appear at the bottom of the screen. Click on the magazine or journal title to go directly to the e-resource in which it is available. Some periodicals may be available from more than one source, and different subscriptions can include different volumes and years of a magazine or journal. Search the e-resources for your specific article.
Check if NDSU has the magazine or journal in a physical format:
- In the same Journals search box, type the name of the magazine or journal again, select the Print Journals option below the search box, and click on the Search button.
- If NDSU does not have a subscription, the screen will display No Matches Found; nearby Journal Titles are:. When this occurs, the article can be requested through Interlibrary Loan.
- NDSU has a subscription to the magazine or journal, a computer record will display with an abbreviated list of specific volumes. Click on the View additional copies or search for a specific volume/copy button near the bottom of the screen after typing in the volume or year you need to check if the library has the specific issue.
- If an item has Off-Campus Storage Annex listed in the location, it can be requested through the Pull Service. Simply fill out and submit the electronic form available at the Request from Storage Annex link under Library Services on the Library website.
- All other locations can be found on the shelves in the Main Library or in the listed branch library.
If the Library doesn’t have what you need, it can be requested through Interlibrary Loan:
Click on the Borrow from Other Libraries (ILL) link under Library Services. Choose the appropriate link and fill out the form. Click the Send Request button when you are done.
