Course Reserves

From time to time professors or instructors may place materials within the library in a special collection called Reserves. These are materials that a professor or instructor may ask you to use for a class without having to purchase them (i.e. books, photocopies, videos, etc.) Need help? Refer to our how-to guide.

Reserves materials at the Main Library are located at the circulation desk near the entrance of the library. There are also reserve collections at all three NDSU Branch Libraries.

You may check out up to three reserve items at a time. Reserves are due back at the circulation desk according to the loan period for each item. Materials returned late will be subject to a fine of $0.50 per hour. All library fines are payable only at Bison Connection in the Memorial Union, or online through Campus Connection.

When a professor or instructor puts an item or items on reserve it will be listed in the library catalog in the course reserves section. The course reserves can be searched by course number, department, or by professor or instructor. You may type as much or as little of the course name, course number or department as you wish.

Instructors can have items placed on reserve by filling out and returning the Reserves Form to the circulation department at the Main Library. If you have questions, please contact Sarah Adams at the Main Library (231-8395).

Please be advised that the NDSU Libraries support and act in accordance with the fair use provisions of the Copyright Act of 1976, Section 107, which permits the making of copies for classroom use if the four determining factors are considered and found to be in support of fair use. Please see NDSU Libraries Copyright and Ethical Information Use page.
