What are the different ways to search the catalog?
- Author: retrieves all library materials using all or part of an author’s name.
- Title: retrieves all library materials using all or part of a book title.
- Journal Title: this search retrieves a periodical devoted to disseminating original research and commentary on current developments in a specific discipline, subdiscipline, or field of study (example: Journal of Clinical Epidemiology), usually published in quarterly, bimonthly, or monthly issues sold by subscription. Journal articles are usually written by the person (or persons) who conducted the research. Longer than most magazine articles, they almost always include a bibliography or list of works cited at the end.
- Series Title:this search retrieves the name of the series (publication issued in successive parts) to which a book belongs.
- Subject: items in the catalog are assigned subjects according to the Library of Congress(LC). Printed indexes of LC subject headings are available in the Main Library Documents collection (LC 26.9). It is important to note that the words that you use to describe a subject may not match those used in the indexes. If you do not have access to the printed indexes you may want to perform your search as a keyword.
