Ludwig and Christina (Schwahn) Welk
Homestead, Birthplace of Bandleader Lawrence Welk, Strasburg,
North Dakota
The Welk Homestead is on the National Register of Historic Sites.
It is open to visitors from May 15 to September 15.
4a and 4b - Farm sodhouse home at the Welk Homestead where Lawrence
Welk was born on March 11, 1903. Ludwig and Christina Welk raised
eight children in this one bedroom home. Lawrence would sleep
in the attic where he also practiced with his accordion.

4c, 4d and 4e - The red barn stands at the Welk Homestead. The
original barn is no longer at the homestead. Lawrence Welk would
practice playing the accordion in the loft of the barn.
