Row 2: Ch 1. SC in same (joining) stitch. Work
(Ch 3. Skip next DC. SC in next DC) seven more times around. Join
with (Ch 1, DC in beg SC.
Row 3: Ch 4. Work (SC in next Ch 3 space, Ch
4) seven times around. Join with SC in top of joining DC from
Row 2.
Row 4. Ch 3. Work 3 DC in next Ch 4 space. Work
( 5-chain Back Picot) in top of last DC made. Work 3 DC in same
ch 4 space. Repeat pattern around, except work DC in SC in place
of beg Ch 3. At end of row, join with sl st in 3rd chain of beg
Ch 3.
Row 5. *Work 9 DC in next 5-chain Back Picot.
Sl st in DC mid-way between picots.* Repeat from * seven more
times. At end of row, join with sl st in 3rd chain of beg Ch 3
from Row 4. [Eight Flower Petals made]. Break off thread.
Row 6: Re-attach thread by SC in 5th DC of a
petal from Row 5. Ch 9. Work (SC in 5th DC of next petal. Ch 9)
seven times. Join with sl st in first SC.
Row 7: Ch 3. Work 14 DC in next Ch 9 space.
Repeat pattern around, except work DC in SC in place of beg Ch
3. At end of row, join with sl st in 3rd chain of beg Ch 3.
Row 8: Sl st into next DC. Ch 6. Skip next 3
DC, DC in next DC. Ch 3. Work (DC in 4th DC from hook, Ch 3) around.
At end of row, join with sl st in 3rd chain of beg Ch 3. Makes
30 Ch-3 spaces around. Sl st into next Ch 3 space to position
thread for Row 9.
Row 9: Ch 3. Work (DC, Ch 2, 2 DC) in same Ch
3 space. Work (2 DC, Ch 2, 2 DC) in each Ch 3 space around. Join
with sl st in 3rd chain of beg Ch 3. [30 shells made] Sl st into
next DC and into Ch 2 space.
Row 10: Ch 3. Work (DC, Ch 2, 2 DC, Ch 1) in
same Ch 2 space. Work (2 DC, Ch 2, 2 DC, Ch 1) in Ch 2 space of
each shell around. Join with sl st in 3rd chain of beg Ch 3. Sl
st into next DC and into Ch 2 space.
Row 11: Repeat Row 10.
Row 12: Ch 3. Work (DC, Ch 2, 2 DC, Ch 2) in
same Ch 2 space. Work (2 DC, Ch 2, 2 DC, Ch 2) in Ch 2 space of
each shell around. Join with sl st in 3rd chain of beg Ch 3. Sl
st into next DC and into Ch 2 space.
Row 13: Repeat Row 12.
Row 14: Ch 3. Work (DC, Ch 2, 2 DC, Ch 3) in
same Ch 2 space. Work (2 DC, Ch 2, 2 DC, Ch 3) in Ch 2 space of
each shell around. Join with sl st in 3rd chain of beg Ch 3. Sl
st into next DC and into Ch 2 space.
Row 15: Repeat Row 14.
Row 16: Repeat Row 14.

Row 19: Ch 3. Work (DC, Ch 2, 2 DC, Ch 5) in
same Ch 2 space. Work (2 DC, Ch 2, 2 DC, Ch 5) in Ch 2 space of
each shell around. Join with sl st in 3rd chain of beg Ch 3. Sl
st into next DC and into Ch 2 space.
Row 20: Ch 3. Work (DC, Ch 2, 2 DC, Ch 6) in
same Ch 2 space. Work (2 DC, Ch 2, 2 DC, Ch 6) in Ch 2 space of
each shell around. Join with sl st in 3rd chain of beg Ch 3. Sl
st into next DC and into Ch 2 space.
Row 21: Ch 3. Work (DC, Ch 1, 2 DC, Ch 7) in
same Ch 2 space. Work (2 DC, Ch 1, 2 DC, Ch 7) in Ch 2 space of
each shell around. Join with sl st in 3rd chain of beg Ch 3.
Row 22: Ch 3. DC in next DC. DC in next Ch 1
space. DC in each of next 2 DC. Work 7 DC in next Ch 7 space.
Repeat pattern around, except work DC in place of beg Ch 3. At
end of row, join with sl st in 3rd chain of beg Ch 3. Sl st into
next DC.
Row 23: Ch 4. *Skip next DC. DC in next DC.
Ch 1.* Repeat from * around, joining at end of row with sl st
in 3rd chain of beg Ch 4. Sl st into next Ch 1 space (end of beg
Ch 4).
Row 24: Ch 3. Work (DC, Ch 2, 2 DC) in same
Ch 1 space. Ch 1. Skip next DC and next Ch 1 space. Work (DC,
Ch 1) in each of next 4 DC. Skip next Ch 1 space and next DC.
Repeat pattern around, except work DC in place of beg Ch 3. At
end of row, join with sl st in 3rd chain of beg Ch 3. [Makes 30
shells, one shell at the top of each spoke of the Spider Web.]
Sl st into next DC and into Ch 2 space.
Row 25: Ch 3. Work 3 DC in same Ch 2 space.
Work (3-chain Back Picot) in top of last DC just made. Work three
more DC in same Ch 2 space. Ch 3. Skip next two Ch 1 spaces. SC
in next Ch 1 space. Work (3-chain Back Picot) in SC just made.
Ch 3. Skip next two Ch 1 spaces. Repeat pattern around, except
work DC in Ch 2 space in place of beg Ch 3. At end of row, join
with sl st in 3rd chain of beg Ch 3. Break off thread.
Weave in and trim all loose ends. Hand wash in mild soap and
cool water, rinse well. Blot by rolling in a towel, then lay flat
on dry towel, smoothing and stretching to original size and shape.
