The Germans from Russia Heritage Collection announces its latest
Volga German-Russian cookbook, Value Meals on the Volga: Sharing
our Heritage with New Generations. Bartkowski is also the author of Maggie
Visits Grandpa and Maggie Visits Argentina.
Anna Dalhaimer Bartowski compiled this cookbook in efforts
to preserve the eating traditions from Mariental, Russia for the
next generation. In the introduction, Bartowski writes, “These
recipes guide you with clear directions and step-by-step photos
so whether you are a gourmet chef or a novice cook, you can make
delectable delights in your kitchen.”
The cookbook contains an introduction; a preparation and planning
section; three main recipe sections: soups, main dishes, and desserts;
family history; and appendices. The family history section includes
scanned images from the Thalheimer Family Bible.
Recipes found in this beautiful cookbook include Butter Cookies,
Butterhorns, Broda, Cottage Cheese Mauldasha, Dumplings, Fleish
& Kraut Barok, Grebel, Green Bean Soup, Kuchen & Flat Grebel,
