The Germans from Russia Heritage Collection is pleased to provide
Tony Bender's latest book, The Great and Mighty Da-Da. His popular
first book Loons in
the Kitchen: Humorous Poignant Short Stores from the Dakotas.
Tony Bender writes in the Foreword: "There are some new pieces
in this book that have a place in my heart because that is where
they were born. The House David Built, What Friends Will Do, Dad
Hugged Me, Ryan's Hope, and Getting By are among the essays which
allowed me a rare measure of satisfaction with the story told. The
read must be satisfied first and foremost. But the write must be
satisfied as well, or his dissatisfaction is reflected in the work."
About the Author
Long recognized as one of the finest writers in the Dakotas, Tony
Bender gained national recognition in 2001 when he was awarded a
first place prize for humor writing by the National Newspaper Association
for his piece entitled, "The Readhead's Tractor," which
is contained in his first collection of writing, Loons
in the Kitchen.

"Tony Bender is funny. Tony Bender's books are
funny. Believe me, you'll laugh when you read this book... You'll
laugh and sometimes you'll feel inspired. The guy's that good."

Tony Bender has a rare gift for observing and chronicling
the feats and foibles of real people and real life. Shades of Hemingway's
quiet strength and Kerouac's satiric edge. But most of all, The
Great and Mighty Da-Da is pure Bender."
