Salem
Congregational Church Presents Stille Nacht Salem
Congregational Church German Singers & Friends, Scottsbluff,
Nebraska, 2003, CD
The Germans from Russia Heritage Collection is pleased to introduce
the second musical project of Salem Congregational Church German Singers.
This project includes Christmas songs that have been a part of the
Germans from Russia tradition for many years. We are also pleased
to welcome a few singers from sister churches who joined us in this
celebration in song. As with our first project, which has been very
well received, we hope these songs will awaken a few precious memories
and that you will enjoy singing along.
Paulyne Langhofer is the director and pianist and Robert Meter
plays the hammered dulcimer.
Songs in the German language include: Stille Nacht (Silent Night);
Freue Dich Welt (Joy to the World); Wie Schon Leuchtet der Morgenstern
(How Brightly Shines the Morning Star); Hulflos Lage die Welt (Helpless
Lay the World); Im Stall in der Krippe (Away in the Manger); In
Stiller Mitter Nacht (It Came Upon the Midnight Clear); O Du Frohliche,
O Du Selige (On Thou Joyous Day); Herbei, O Ihr Glaubigen (O Come
All Ye Faithful); Horch! Sind Es Nicht Engel, Die Heute (Listen,
Isn't It Angels?); O Tannenbaum (Oh Christmas Tree); Still, Still,
