Heidelberg, Germany
July 29, 2003
|
| Federal Order of Merit awarded to Georg
Hildebrandt. Undersecretary Michael Sieber of the Ministry for
Science, Research and Art honors Hildebrandt, who was born in
1911 in the former Soviet Union, for his contributions toward
understanding and reconciliation between Germans and Russians.
Resident of Heidelberg since 1974, Hildebrandt in 1990 published
a book entitled "Wieso lebst du noch [Why are you still
alive]?" He describes in the book his experiences in Soviet
