Letters from Antonina
Limanoskje, Odessa Oblast, Ukraine
2 December 1997
 |
| Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year wish
to you, your friends from Selz: Antonina, children and grand
children. |
Hello dear Michael and all who know us!
We were very glad when we got your letter and I want to reply
today. I can't write everyone because the postage is expensive;
it's not possible. We are worse off than in previous years. I am
happy that the Americans are again coming to us. The Welks have
sent us photos and we are grateful to them. I was again quite ill
in July and August and was in bed. Finally, I improved and am walking
again. The summer was very cold and it was raining every day.
I have had nothing from my garden; grass is growing in it. I had
to buy everything at the market. Now there is much rain. There is
no fuel for heat, it will last half the winter. God's Will. Soon
it will be Christmas and the new year, but it will be sad for us.
It is said, "sad but true."

| Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from
us in Selz. Take care and write, your friends in Selz: Antonina,
Lidia, Andreas, Natascha and Nastja.
|
Our little Nastja looks at the photos often and she knows you
well, Michael. She was 5 years old on November 9. I ask you, Michael,
to extend greetings to my sisters and wish all Merry Christmas and
a Happy New Year, good health and all the best. Greetings to Karl
and his wife and children and say "hi" from all of us to your sister,
Pearl. We wish you all the best and good health. Merry Christmas
and a Happy New Year. Greetings and good wishes to the monk Pius.
Write, it would be nice.
With love,
Nina Iwanowa Welk
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
P.S. When you are in Stuttgart, perhaps you can stop by in Einbeck

Franz and Lore. Greetings to all of them from us.
