Title: The Effects of Sulfur and Micronutrients on Sunflower
Author: Hilton, B. R.; Zubriski, J. C.
Description: At the time of this writing, many farmers used a one-size fits all approach to the fertilization of sunflowers over dosing it with sulfur and micro-nutrients unknowingly creating problems for themselves with this haphazard approach. At this time, little information was available on the ill effects of too liberal application of sulfur on the sunflower. As a result, the study in this article was conducted to help determine the effects of sulfur, zinc, iron, copper, manganese and boron on this plant species under controlled conditions. The procedure, plant analysis results and yield results are reviewed. It was learned that the usage of sulfur and micro-nutrients did not enhance seed production. Poor farming practices produce poor results.
