Description: The author, W.D. Eide, discusses their experience in the collection of specimens for a calf scours project. This project asking producers to collect colostrum samples from their beef cows and feces samples from scouring and non-scouring calves. E. coli organisms in non-scouring calves were sensitive to almost every form of medication. In scouring calves only one or two antibiotics appeared to have any impact upon this disease. the nutritional needs of calves were looked into in relation to this condition. The project examined management systems of various cooperating, calving facilities and disease prevention programs. Soil samples were gathered. Lastly, the author ponders questions they had after their first year of calf scours study.
