dc.description In 1978, North Dakota was the leading producer of oil type sunflower seeds, which accounted for 67% of the nation's total production. A seed quality study was conducted by the North Dakota State University for oil analysis. In addition, they were checked for their aflatoxins. Beased upon these findings, a survey was initiated to define the extend of aflatoxin contamination of North Dakota sunflower seeds. The survey indicated that North Dakota sunflower seeds which reach the commercial pipeline were free of aflatoxin contamination.
