Title: Fungicide Spray Trials for Leaf Rust Control
Author: Statler, G.D.
Description: A background into the nature of leaf rust of wheat and it's result begins the article. Leaf rust is problematic as it has the ability to mutate and to adapt. Fungicide spray trials have been conducted at NDSU for quite some time. This paper reports spray trials conducted between 1980-83 at Fargo ND. It was culled that he timing of the fungicide application is critical for good control. Research at NDSU indicated that durum wheat displayed a slower development of leaf rust than hard red spring wheat. The environmental conditions were influential in increasing the likelihood of leaf rust.
