Title: A Summary of 20 Years of Performance Testing through the North Dakota Beef Cattle Improvement Association

Description: This article begins with this information that the Animal Science Department summarized the weaning weight data of calves owned by members of the North Dakota Beef Cattle Improvement Associate for a 20 year period starting in 1962. The summarized data of each member provided useful information for the production of genetic selection decisions and related management decisions. Over 170,000 calf weaning weights have processed to the writing of this article 1985 The number of herds represented was 425. Each year roughly 100 producers send in information on approximately 10,000 calves. The average weaning weight of the calves had increased 40 pounds from 1970-85. It is this sort of information that this article presents along with accompanying tables.
