Title: Changes in Production of Principal Crops
Author: Petry, Timothy A .; Erlandson, Gordon W.
Description: Farmers in North Dakota have depended upon the sale of crops for 50% to 67% of their agricultural income. Fluctuations in prices and weather changes have affect crop yields. Those crops that have grossed the most return have continued to be chosen as good alternatives to traditional crops. The continued value of wheat to the North Dakota agricultural financial landscape is discussed. The more recent addition of the sunflower to the roster of crop options, too. barley, corn, sugar beets, flax seed, potatoes, soybeans, dry edible beans and oats are presented here. Government payments, in North Dakota, have varied sometimes significantly over time with peaks and valleys.
