Title: Strategic Planning For Agriculture: A Projection to 1995 of ~orth Dakota Crop Production and Agricultural Sector Financial Statements
Author: Vreugdenhil, Harvey G.; Saxowsky, David M.; Ali, Mir B.; Watt, David L.
Description: Those farmers with foresight, every so often reevaluate their plans to make adjustments, if needed. This involves the creation of long term plans and short term programs for crop and livestock production. This article concerns itself with this strategic plan as set forth for 1984-95 by the Farm Credit Administration for the order of their business. The mthods and results of that study are used to provide estimates of the 1995 production and financial condition for the North Dakota farm sector. At this writing, it was the authors opinion that it was the time to cease rapid growth through use of borrowed capital if the farm owner had not already done this. It was projected that farm income and production cost were both expected to decrease over the next few years along with increased leverage and debt repayment obligation on the increase creating added risk. With the increased repayment versus reduced income, balancing these to stay ahead or afloat would be further complicated.
