Title: An Update on Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus in North Dakota

Description: The discussion of of wheat streak mosaic, a disease caused by wheat streak mosaic virus and vectored by the wheat curl mite was becoming a concern in other areas other than the traditional wheat areas of North Dakota. Severe losses in both winter and spring wheat were reported by several researchers. The study examined in this article concerned the reaction of durham wheat cultivars to WSM and the trend towards the increased planting of winter wheat in eastern North Dakota. The materials, methods, results and discussion of findings are given. The last comment of this article cites how good agricultural practices and the growing of more tolerant cultivars would aid in the reduction of losses to this diseae.
