dc.description Bovine viral diarrhea was considered to be one of the foremost viral pathogens facing the US cattle industry. It manifests itself in subclinical infections, bovine viral diarrhea, acute and chronic muscosal disease, abortion, congential defects, immunosuppression, immunotolerance and in persistent infections. Prevention and control are major concerns regarding this.Up to this point, vaccine results were not very satisfactory. Molecular biology had little information on this virus. Several research approaches including molecular cloning of the virus genome and the proteins synthesized were underway by various organizations in an attempt to address this disease.
