Title: Row Crops: An Intensification of the North Dakota Agricultural Industry
Author: Bangsund, Dean A.; Johnson, Roger G.
Description: Six row crops are grown commercially in North Dakota: sunflowers, corn, soybeans, dry edible beans, sugar beets and potatoes. These account for 1/6th of total acreage harvested and contribute 28% of total crop value produced. These crops add diversification to a cropping system dominated by wheat. They add high crop value per acre. Row crops add intensity to the agricultural industry within the state. The changes between 1967 - 87 in North Dakota land usage, productivity and value produced are discussed.
