Title: Older North Dakotans as Caregivers to the Elderly
Author: Sanders, Gregory F.
Description: The focus of this article was to present the results of a study concerning the nature of elderly individuals that were giving care to those older than they themselves were or even those their own age. In 1983, 25% of all North Dakotans were elderly. The person receiving care, those extending care to others, the strains of giving care and the rewards of being a caregiver were addressed. The stereotype was that all older people need to be taken care was in part dispelled by these results as many elderly individuals give care to others elderly. For the caregivers to be educated on illnesses and problems might make things better. Also, tax incentives for caregivers.
