dc.description In 1984, no information was available regarding the reaction of Durham wheat against 'wheat streak virus'. The study outlined in this article discusses how the wheat streak mosaic virus was isolated from Spring wheat and corn in eastern North Dakota in 1984. The virus had not been identified in eastern North Dakota in the 10 previous years. In this study, the methods and materials are given. When hard red Spring and Durham wheat were inoculated with wheat streak mosaic, their yields and kernel weights both were greatly reduced. Durham did not experience as drastic a loss i kernel weight loss as did hard red wheat did.
