dc.description In 1988, the need for diversification of North Dakota agricultural crops for alternate usage was presented in trade journal. Utilization research would develop, introduce and commercialize products to further diversify North Dakota agriculture and to establish new uses for these alternative crops and by-products of existing crops. Crambe and the sunflower are discussed. Alternative crops are needed to complement and to further expand the array options of crop rotations. Those alternate crops being evaluated were: oilseed, grain legumes and other crops. North Dakota State University's part in this new research was cited.
