Title: Intoduction of Insects for the Biological Control of Leafy Spurge in North Dakota
Author: Mundal, Donald; Carlson, Robert B.
Description: The attempt to address the leafy spurge problem in North Dakota began in the 1960s/ Few native American insects seem unable to overcome the latex ooze that the plant sends out when injured. Several insects in Europe and Asia were identified as being able to attack leafy spurge. Several insect releases yielded varying results. Not every insect was able to adapt. At the time of this writing, no insect was discovered that could address the leafy spurge problem. Thus, chemical treatments were still the recommended method of controlling this noxious weed. More research was needed.
