Title: Grain Harvesting Losses in North Dakota
Author: Schuler, R. T.; Rodakowski, N. N.; Kucera, H. L.
Description: The article presents a study concerning loss determinations made on 50 grain combines randomly selected to provide and estimate of how much harvesting losses were being incurred at that time by North Dakota grain producers on four major grains: hard red spring wheat, durum, barley and oats. Grain harvesting equipment inevitably produces some loss because of varied harvesting conditions and incorrect adjustment and operation of the harvesting equipment. A grain combine operator should strive to minimize losses through proper machine operation, which will help maximize profits.
