Mortal Engines: SuperOrganisms, Technology, and Urbanistic Futures

A temporary exhibition of student works for Arch472: Architectural Design Studio V, taught by Associate Professor David A. Crutchfield, is on display at the Main Library. The mixed media material 3D scale models and impressionistic ‘e-college’ video can be viewed next to the administration office.

Stemming, in part, from the fantastical visions of futurism, utopianism, and dystopianism (and the books/movie of the same title), this ambitious urban design studio examined the trajectory of urban development beyond the hypothetical and into the improbable. Come see how students explored this topic and executed their visions. You can see their process on the YouTube videos they created. The models will be on display through July 15, 2019.
