NDSU Libraries is pleased to be co-sponsoring, along with the Office of Teaching and Learning (OTL), a brown bag meeting series of facilitated discussions about women in academia. Inspired by the publication of “The Awakening: Women and Power in the Academy” in the Chronicle of Higher Education, the discussion addresses themes of gender, power, equity, and sexual harassment in higher education. The session is open to all NDSU faculty, staff, and students.
The first session was deemed a success with 16 participants, who seek to recruit colleagues for the next session. The next sessions will be held on the following dates in the Weber Reading Room of the Main Library:
Tuesday, October 2: 12:30–1:30pm
Wednesday, October 17: 12:00–1:00pm
Tuesday, November 6: 12:30–1:30pm
Wednesday, December 5: 12:00–1:00pm
Organizers of this event hope this will be the beginning of a robust series of civil discourses on difficult topics that will allow faculty, staff, students, and the greater community, to gather in a safe, and civil, space to listen and learn from one another.
