Collection Highlight: National Poetry Month

National Poetry Month, which takes place each April, is a great time for poetry lovers to celebrate, and for new readers to explore the vast and diverse world of poetry. Many have been moved to do so by Amanda Gorman’s enormously popular inaugural poem “The Hill We Climb.” As Minnesota poet Michael Kleber-Diggs puts it in a recent Boston Globe article, her poem “captivated the nation’s attention and reignited interest in poetry as art and inspiration.” In that article, So you loved Amanda Gorman’s inaugural poem. Here’s who to read next, Kleber-Diggs discusses what makes Gorman’s poem so powerful, and recommends other writers for those new to poetry to check out. Browse this collection of books of contemporary poetry available at the NDSU Libraries to find books by those authors and more.
