About the Digital Fabrication Lab

Building on the success of the Libraries’ original 3D Printing Program, this new workspace gives NDSU students direct access to the machinery. The Lab features additive (3D printing) and subtractive (CNC milling) manufacturing capabilities, as well as common hand tools to aid in construction. Open to any and all NDSU students, the Lab can be used to develop prototypes, create custom products, and complete class projects.

The Digital Fabrication Lab is supported by a helpful staff of student workers that are led by Adam Elznic, Emerging Technologies Coordinator. If students are interested in learning how to use the machines or more about 3D modeling, the staff will help users develop the skills they need through training and drop-in workshops.

“I encourage all students to explore the Lab.” Adam says. “We’ve put a lot of emphasis on making it usable and accessible to all majors and backgrounds. If you have an idea, stop in. We will help you learn or hone the skills you need to develop your project.”
