The NDSU Foundation and Alumni Association recently highlighted Michael Miller, the director and bibliographer of the Germans from Russia Heritage Collection (GRHC) at NDSU Libraries. For more than 50 years, Miller has worked to preserve and enhance the history of the Germans from Russia. Miller has established an endowment that will continue to support and make an impact on the GRHC for years to come.
“I'm hoping that as a legacy, my gift will inspire other people with a deep passion for their ethnic roots to give to NDSU,” Miller said.
The Germans from Russia Heritage Collection is a special collection located in the Main Library. The GRHC serves as a valuable resource for Germans from Russia looking to discover more about their ancestral history. On July 31, 2019, the GRHC had an open house celebration that had over 400 attendees. It's clear the special collection holds a significant place in the community.
“I don't think there's any collection regionally, probably even nationally, that does so many unique things for heritage and culture at a university library setting. This may be unique in the United States and Canada,” Miller said.
The NDSU Foundation and Alumni Association said that Miller’s endowment is an example of one of the most effective ways for alumni and friends to support the university. If you’re interested in learning more about giving to NDSU Libraries, please visit https://library.ndsu.edu/give-to-libraries.
