Christian
T. Lee was born in Norway in April 1871. Mr. Lee came to
America in 1888. He was married to Carrie [?] about 1895,
and had one son Carl. He was found working for Hans
T. Hanson in Fargo in the 1895-1896 city directory. A
photograph with his imprint is located in the Institute’s collection (296.37.13).
The imprint states “C. T. Lee’s Photo Car, From Fargo, N. Dak.”
Based on the internal evidence, it was determined that this photo
was taken about 1897. Mr. Lee was later listed in a business
gazetteer as operating studios in Harvey, N.D. from 1902 to 1919, and
Fessenden, N.D. in 1906. 1890s photographers
