Cyril Pember was born in England in November 1866 and came with his family to the United States in 1868. The family first lived in New York City, before moving to LaMoure County, North Dakota, where they were residing in 1885. Mr. Pember was listed in the 1887 Fargo city directory as a photographer. At the time he was living at 817 Front Street. By 1900 he had moved to Richmond Borough, in New York City. Here the 1900 Census lists him as working as an artist. 1880s photographers
