Mr. Wigness’s name only appears in the Polk business gazetteer of 1886. He is part of the photographic firm of Wigness & Foseide. Neither Wigness nor John Foseide are found in any Fargo city directories around this time period. It is probable that Mr. Wigness is the same as John Viknes or John Wagness. John J. Foseide was born in Norway in August 1858. He came to the United States in 1882, moving to the Fargo-Moorhead area. He was married in Fargo on August 21, 1888, to Margrethe Larsen of Moorhead. By 1890 he had moved to Washington state, settling in the town of Buckley, where he had a studio specializing in stereo photography. He died in Tacoma, Washington on September 19, 1943. 1880s photographers
