The image above shows a cropped version of an 1880 bird’s eye view engraving of Fargo. Visible in this view is a section of Front Street, between 2nd and 3rd Streets. The building marked by the number "13" is identified as the Skandinavian House hotel, with E. T. Moon proprietor. This hotel was located at 214 Front Street, and is listed in the Fargo city directories between 1881 and 1891. Through those years there are various proprietors are listed, including Peter Knutzen, Anton Fenzel, Hans Lobben and Peter Fosberg. The hotel is also spelled two ways in the directories, the Scandinavian Hotel, and the Skandinavian Hotel. The hotel later became the Travelers Hotel.
