Kingman Farm

Richmond T. Kingman was born in Massachusetts in 1862. He came to Traill County, N.D. in 1882 where he purchased land from the Northern Pacific Railway. His 1400 acre farm was located in Hillsboro, just a few miles from Fargo. His wife, Gertrude, was born in Minnesota; they had two children, Howard and John.

Kingman developed an extensive farming operation. He was one of the first farmers in the state to raise corn. As early as 1884 he demonstrated steam plowing, possibly the first in the state. In addition, he raised Jersey and Shorthorn cattle.

One report shows the farm owned and operated by H.D. Hurley at some point.
