Shanley High School

Shanley High School is a private Catholic school located at 705 13th Avenue North in Fargo. The school was named in honor of Bishop John Shanley. Its first graduating class was the class of 1951.

The Presentation Sisters served at Shanley until 1989. Another religious order, the Christian Brothers, also served as teachers and administrators of the school from 1964-1989. In 1989 all Fargo Catholic Schools joined to form the Fargo Catholic School's Network - forming a K-12 Catholic educational system in Fargo.

On Sunday, May 26, 2002, the final graduation ceremony was held in the Shanley gymnasium with 55 memebers of the class of 2002 graduating. It was the last class to graduate from the school. The new high school was built at 5600 25th Street So.

CityScapes Development of Fargo razed the Shanley High School building at 705 13th Ave. N. and replace it with a 69-unit, three-story apartment building. The developer plans 21 town house units on land now taken up by Sid Cichy Field, north of the school building. In the third part of the development, what was Queen of Peace Center at 1310 Broadway would become part of the complex.

On Wednesday, May 16, 2001, Monsignor Val Gross and Bishop James Sullivan presided at the groundbreaking, dedication, and blessing of a new Shanley High School and Sullivan Middle School at 25th Street and 56th Avenue South. The $13.9 million project was initiated to increase enrollment at the schools in the fast-growing south Fargo. The schools will occupy 47 acres of an 80 acre site shared with the Sts. Anne and Joachim Church.
