Hanson Auto School
The Hanson Auto, Diesel, and Welding School was founded by August Hanson in 1918. Mr. Hanson was born and raised on a farm near Benson, Minnesota. He was employed by the J.I. Case Company 21 years, first as a mechanic expert for six years and then as Branch Manager of the Fargo branch. He served as City Commissioner of Fargo and Cass County Commissioner.
Over 12,000 students attended the school in the first 20 years of operation. The school taught a wide variety of skills, from carburation, body work, electrical, and related subjects for gas and diesel engines.
The school was located at 65 Third Street North. It was still in operation in 1964 but the 1977 city directory lists the property as vacant.
