Golden Maid Cafe
The Golden Maid Cafe was located at 68 Broadway. It was first listed in the telephone book in June 1925 as the Golden Maid Shoppe. The cafe was started by two brothers, James and Peter Santrizos, who had emigrated from the village of Pakia, Greece about 1915. The Golden Maid advertised lunches, candies and sodas, and from time to time offered live music. On February 7, 1941, the Golden Maid was destroyed by fire and was never reopened. The fire also involved Stevenson's Shop, Broadway Pharmacy, Dotty Dunn, Crescent Jewelry, and the Elliott Hotel.
