View of Fargo from Moorhead
The image above is one-half of a stereoview photograph (enlarged and cropped) taken about 1880 (Photo Mss 1970.13.3). The photograph looks west from where it was taken across the Red River in Moorhead.
The tall building near the center is the Headquarters Hotel. The path leading diagonally from the bottom right corner is Front Street (Main Avenue) and in the upper left we can see the buildings from Front Street south.
The image above is also one-half of a stereoview photograph by Flaten & Skrivseth, Moorhead photographers, probably around 1880 (2006.97.4). The photograph looks west along the Northern Pacific railroad tracks from Moorhead into Fargo. On the upper right horizon, one can see the Headquarters Hotel. On the center left, one can see the Moorhead Manufacturing Company flour mill.
