McKinley School

McKinley School, the First Ward school, was completed in 1900. It was located on Third Avenue North between Fourth and Fifth Streets. In 1909, the school four teachers providing grades 1-6.

In time the school found itself surrounded by businesses and the school was closed and later razed. The American Legion Hall was erected on the site.

There is a McKinley elementary school today at 2930 North 8th Street but it is a different school.
