Union Elevator
The image on the right is one-half of a stereoview photograph. It is a picture of the Northern Pacific Elevator Co.'s Union Elevator. It was built around 1879-1880 at the northeast corner of First Avenue North and and Second Street. It had a railroad siding and was on the bank of the Red River. This it could accommodate train and barge transportation easily. I believe the elevator was built by G.S. Barnes and Major L.H. Tenney. In the late 1890s the elevator was purchased and used by the Fargo Linseed Oil Mill Company. The building was removed between 1906 and 1910.
