Isaac Newton Wear, MD

Isaac Newton Wear was born in Illinois on March 25, 1852. Dr. Wear was a teacher for a number of years after receiving his education at Abington, Illinois. He entered Rush Medical College in Chicago in 1876 and received his MD in 1878. He practiced medicine in Fandon, Illinois for four years and moved to Fargo, Dakota Territory in 1882.

Dr. Wear toured Europe in 1890 with Professor Nicholas Senn (a noted Chicago surgeon) and Professor George R. Fowler (of New York). They visited medical centers and studied advanced medical treatments. On returning to Fargo, Dr. Wear was associated professionally with Dr. Campbell and, later, Dr. Wheeler.

Shortly after his health failed and in an effort to improve, Dr. Wear went abroad and later moved to California where he died.

Dr. Wear was a member of the North Dakota Board of Medical Examiners and was President of the organization. He was elected President of the North Dakota Medical Society in 1893 and also held the position of Surgeon of the NP and Milwaukee Railroads in Fargo.
