William C. Shurlock, MD
William C. Shurlock was born in Pennsylvania on January 6, 1835. He graduated from Jefferson Medical College in 1858. He served as a surgeon in the Civil War and practiced medicine in various eastern cities for 22 years. He served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1871-1873 and was chief clerk of the House in 1874, 1877, and 1879.
Dr. Shurlock came to Fargo in 1880. He practiced medicine in Fargo for 12 years and was elected the third President of the North Dakota Medical Society in 1891.
