Elks

Elks Lodge.

The Fargo Lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks (BPOE) was organized in 1893 with 45 members.

Ground was broken for the Elks building (pictured above) on April 29, 1923. The Elks building was located at the corner of Seventh Street and First Avenue North (102 North 7th Street).The building was dedicated on January 21, 1926. It was remodeled in June 1951 and served as a community and civic center for the Fargo area as well as BPOE Lodge #260 for its members. Facilities included the Lodge Room,a dining room, the Red River Room, men's and ladies' lounges, a handball court, steam room, card and reading rooms, and a kitchen. The building was remodeled again in 1966.
