During the 1940 Resettlement – Photos Taken of People at the Transition Camp in Galatz

Fieβ, Heinz. "During the 1940 Resettlement – Photos Taken of People at the Transition Camp in Galatz." Mitteilungsblatt des Bessarabiendeutschen Vereins, April, 2012, 20.

Through a fortunate circumstance the Bessarabiendeutsche Verein [Bessarabian German Association] has come into possession of several photos taken in Galatz during [late] 1940. Beginning with the Day of the Open Door, these photos have been displayed in the staircase of the Heimatmuseum. Among other purposes, the display was established in the hope that some or all of the people pictured in them may yet be identified, but even if that is not the case, the photos impressively reflect those days and time, and they certainly deserve to be introduced here in this issue of the Mitteilungsblatt. Below you may peruse a rather small selection.

Our appreciation is extended to Alex Herzog for translation of this article.
