Miller plans visit to Rugby and Pierce County, N.D. 125th celebration with German from Russia Heritage Collection displays.

Michael M. Miller, NDSU Libraries' Germans from Russia Heritage Collection’s (GRHC) director and bibliographer, will attend the Rugby-Pierce County 125th celebration.  The GRHC will have information tables and displays at the Heart of America Library, 201 West 3rd Street in Rugby. Miller will be at the library on Friday, July 1, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, July 2, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, July 3, 2- 5 pm.

Miller returned to North Dakota from Ukraine and Germany on June 8 with the 17th Journey to the Homeland Tour group.  With tour members, Miller visited the former Catholic Black Sea German villages where families immigrated to Pierce County – villages of Baden, Elsass, Kandel, Mannheim, Selz and Strassburg (Kutschurgan District), today near Odessa, Ukraine.

He has been at the helm of the GRHC's large and impressive book, document and photo collections, now in his 44th year at NDSU. The GRHC has been a pioneer for website development, organizing homeland tours and publishing. The GRHC is also well known for its collaboration with Prairie Public Broadcasting which has created a series of award-winning documentaries and several radio programs.
