Throughout the coobkook there are photographs of women and men who contributed their recipes. Memories are shared such as Irene (Morman) Wehri who provided the Cheese Cake recipe: "When our five children were young we always had a milk cow and from that milk, we always had plenty to make our own cottage cheese as well as have sweet cream and sour cream. This kuchen-like cheese cake used up these milk and cream products that were on hand. We also made our own butter and then would have fresh buttermilk to make fluffy pancakes the next day."

Albert Hoerauf who provided the Leberwurst (Liver Sausage) recipes writes, "When the weather turned cold in the fall, it was butchering time. The fattened hogs were killed. Nothing was wasted. The meat - tongue, brain, kidneys, heart, liver - even the intestines were used. The rumor was even the hogs squeals were used."

August Sayler's Dandelion Wine recipe is included. He writes: "Mary Kokot Schantz told when she was was little, August would pay her a nickle for every pail of dandelions she picked. When the families visited, the children would get a sip of the wine and she said it was the best tasting wine."

Lydia Mayer who provied the Pfeffernuse recipes writes: "All seven of our daughter's use this recipe for Christmas time. It woudn't be Christmas without them!" Many other fond memories of recipes, baking and cooking are included in this cookbook.
