Transforaum: Using Nature and Architecture to Enhance Well-being
(North Dakota State University, 2017) Stokes, Leah
This thesis answers the question, “How can incorporating natural elements into a space affect individuals in a positive way so that their overall wellness is improved?” When the health of an individual is being tested and manipulated, every factor should be assessed, including the built environment. Because the natural world has such a positive impact on the human mind, it is this design thesis’ goal to incorporate the natural environment within the built. The typology is a holistic wellness center located in the heart of lakes country in Lake Park, Minnesota. The intent of this design is to improve each guest’s overall well-being based not only on holistic techniques provided by the professionals, but the spaces that house each activity as well.
