The Effect of Three 2,4-D Compounds on Yield and Quality of North Dakota Wheatsen_US
Articleen_US
The article presents findings on the effect of three 2.4-D compounds on yield and quality of the various varieties of North Dakota wheat. Some plants have varying degrees of reaction to 2, 4-D pesticide applications. Some show very favorable responses to such whereas others show reduced yields. An experiment to test the reaction of the wheat plant to the application of a standard amount of 2,4-D, at various stages of growth is described in this paper. As in all stage trials (whether at the tiller, boot, bloom or soft-dough stages), all varieties developed a chlorotlc condition for approximately a week following treatment, with subsequent recovery. Plant height was reduced in all varieties when treated with an ester or amine compound.
